My name is Elizabeth Sackey a Lecturer at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (EBA) at the Catholic University of Ghana. I was born in Edinburgh in the United Kingdom but have lived almost all my life in Ghana. I obtained a B.Sc. degree in Computer Science in 1991 from the University of Science and Technology (Now KNUST). I did my two years national service at the Regional Hospital (now Municipal Hospital) and Produce Buying Company (PBC) respectively. In 1992 I received a certificate from the Ghana Airways Training Centre for pursuing a course in Travel Agency and Tourism.
In 1995 I was appointed a Tutor in Mathematics at the Sunyani Technical Institute and a Senior Tutor as the Head of the Computing department when it became a Polytechnic (now Sunyani Technical University) in 1997. In 2003 I was a Senior Tutor at the Faculty of Information Communication Science and Technology at the Catholic University of Ghana (CUG) and was the first to lecture the first set of fifty students admitted into the University. In 2010 I obtained an M.A. in Human Resource Management at the University of Cape Coast and in 2013 was appointed a Lecturer at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration. In September 2021 I obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from the University of Cape Coast. I am currently pursuing an M.Phil. Degree in Human Resource Management. I have successfully supervised quite a number of undergraduate dissertations.
I have held many positions including being a member of the Governing Council of the Catholic University, Vice Board Chairman of Notre Dame Senior High School, Board Member for other secondary and tertiary schools such as St. Ambrose College of Education, Role model / Judge and Planning Committee member for Girls at the Science, Technology and Mathematics Education (STME) clinics for Brong Ahafo Region for several years. I have also served on several academic committees including the Grading system for CUG, Disciplinary Committee for CUG, Examination Malpractice committee for EBA, Student Life Committee and many others.
I have also served the community in so many ways some of which I was a pastoral council member for eighteen continuous years including being the Vice President of Christ the King Cathedral (Catholic) for twelve years. I was part of the planning committee for the Bishops conference held in Sunyani and many other important functions. I have also given many talks to the youth and adults as well.
Indeed after Twenty-Nine years of lecturing, I have made an outstanding positive impact on the lives of students both academically and life in general.
